AACN Certification/ Designation

Posted over 1 year ago by Sandy Salicco

Dear Members,

AACN sent out an email this past week re: CCRN and CCRN-K designation. Starting immediately, there will be no CCRN-K designation. Don't panic if you are like me and have used that title. This has to do with Magnet Status and accreditation.

From AACN..."The new standards require that all certifications approved for Magnet recognition be accredited by one of the following: Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or ISO 17-024 (ANSI). In addition, ANA will be discontinuing its Demographic Data Collection Tool (DDCT), which lists all approved certification programs.) .... please Read the AACN Announcement for more details!

I wanted you to be sure to be aware of this, just in case you did not see the email. This went into affect on November 14, 2023, so be sure to change your status to CCRN, including but not limited to, any email signature, business cards, presentations, etc.

Regards,

Sandy A.Salicco, MSN, RN, CCRN
